WCC Masters Champions Crowned

Post date: 23-Dec-2010 23:34:26

Well the WCC Season has come to an end with the WCC Masters crowned in each form of the Competition. This was a fitting end to one of the best WCC seasons ever and just wets my appetite for the new season to start.

CUP

In what was an all Italian Masters Final at Il Prato Di Pontida, Bugia Nen were rampant in a 0-67 win over Stella Verde. In a thoroughly dominant performance, capped off by brilliance from Man of the Match, Chris Patrick, Bugia Nen never looked in trouble, and showed exactly why they were WCC Cup champions this season.

PLATE

In the Plate, yet another all Italian Final, the Stargazers beat La Colonna Durruti 26-13. In a match that was pretty close stats wise, La Colonna drew within 2 points in the 62nd minute and so had all to play for, but a Checco Giacomelli try, awarded after consultation with the TMO, snuffed out any chance of a La Colonna Durruti comeback, and the rest as they say.....is history.

BOWL

The Bowl saw Welsh team Askam Exiles victorious over their Irish opponents Dedard Fookers 31-10. The Fookers who dominated the scrums, had an amazing 14 penalties awarded to them by the aggressive Exiles, but could not translate all those infringements into points. As it was the Exiles gave the footers plenty of tackling practise, an area in which the Fookers need to improve as they only managed a 50% success rate.

SHIELD

Finally in the Shield, the Adelaide Marauders took on much higher ranked side Euskadi Rugby, but home advantage counted for little as they went down 3-24. Euskadi manager SavageYfronts said afterwards in an interview "The Marauders forwards made it difficult, the only forwards moves I could depend on were the scrums and even then I lost one at the end, he obviously had his tactics right". When asked for his comments after losing the game, Jonesy said "Well we did our best against a good, strong team, he had obviously done his homework too, and hit us where it hurts, but there is always next season to look forward too"

So with the season drawing to a close, all that is left for me to say is "MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE"
